Firstly, let me say that I do NOT recommend formal vocal training for children 10 years
old and under. It is important that a child learn to love and enjoy singing. A formal training program, before the child has developed the ability to follow a demanding regime, could discourage rather than help, not to mention that the vocal mechanism is still under development. Instead, consider enrolling your child in a youth or children’s choir (which is how I got my start as a singer!)
For the child who is ready, there is the Children’s Arts Tax Credit.
“Starting in 2011, a new Manitoba tax credit provides parents of children under 16 with a 10.8% non-refundable income tax credit…
The federal government has also announced a Children’s Arts Tax Credit. It is the Province’s intention to align Manitoba’s Children’s Arts and Cultural Activity Tax Credit with the federal credit.”
